Working Together for the Perfect Trade Show Experience

Two white trucks used for logistics transport are parked in the paved courtyard in front of the building; one of them also has the company logo printed on it. A road runs through the foreground under a clear, slightly cloudy sky.

Today, a modern trade show booth must stand out to truly captivate visitors. That’s why companies that want to stay ahead of the curve are increasingly turning to digital and interactive experiences. One partner that understands this perfectly and brings it to life for its clients is Messebau Bodensee Volk GmbH.

We spoke with Fabian Bucher, who has been working as a project manager at the company for four years and oversees trade show projects from the initial concept through to implementation. In the interview, he gave us deeper insights into how the collaboration with us (diliton GmbH) works behind the scenes and the importance of interactive media technology in modern trade show construction.

The Initial Contact: Regional Strength and New Options

Our partnership got off to a very straightforward start via email. Dennis (our managing director at diliton) had contacted the team at Messebau Bodensee Volk GmbH, since both companies are based in the same region and their portfolio is a perfect fit for modern trade show construction. For Fabian and his team, this opportunity came at just the right time:

“It always helps to have contacts – especially when it comes to comparing offers. We had been pretty stuck in this area until now, but we’ve slowly but surely started to find some good options.”

Our first joint project was ultimately the Anuga FoodTec trade show, where four touchscreen displays were successfully deployed. Since then, we’ve been working together regularly, thanks in no small part to the logistical advantages this arrangement offers. Since the Messebau Bodensee team travels extensively for its clients – whether to Messe Stuttgart or elsewhere outside the region—our location in Schramberg is geographically perfect along their route. The equipment can be flexibly transported on the way there and simply returned to us after dismantling – this saves time and keeps logistics routes short. Of course, we also deliver if requested.

On the left is a distinctive square icon that is open at the bottom right and flows into a large black “M.” To the right of it, the word “MESSEBAU” is written in large black uppercase letters, and below it, the word “BODENSEE” is written in a thinner black font.

More insights into our collaboration: “You can always count on diliton”

In the trade show business, time frames are often tight and the demands are high. For Fabian, reliability during the preparation phase is therefore the most important foundation of our collaboration:

“Speaking from experience, Dennis and the team at diliton are always there when you need them – whether it’s during the planning phase or when something has to be done on short notice. Whenever we need touch panels, LED video walls, or audio equipment, they deliver with absolute reliability.”

Although the team at Messebau Bodensee compares quotes for every project, in the end it’s the overall package that tips the scales: “Of course, we always compare prices, but with diliton, we just have a good feeling about them. The overall package is very well-rounded.”

Easy hardware management and flexible live support

Ensuring that the technology runs smoothly at the trade show starts with packing it properly. For Fabian, the ease of handling our hardware is a real plus during the stressful daily routine of setting up the booth:

“The handling is excellent because everything is always neatly packed in boxes. Most of the time, there’s even an extra cable included – so you basically have a spare right there. The usability and operation are also absolutely top-notch.”

If, however, the end customer on-site still needs clarification or if unexpected changes arise, Fabian appreciates our direct availability: “…that diliton is always available, can often join the call live, and can therefore immediately make adjustments, changes, or provide explanations.”

Fabian saw just how flexible this support is at Interpack in Düsseldorf. A contact person at the end customer’s company had forgotten at the last minute to submit an important video for the application. This wasn’t noticed until right in the middle of the setup. After a quick call to Dennis, Fabian connected the trade show computer on site to the internet, and within ten minutes, the video was live. Fabian’s conclusion is clear: “The on-site support is simply great.”

Streamlined content creation without playing “telephone”

To ensure that the interactive applications are optimally tailored to end customers, we take the most direct approach to communication. The team at Messebau Bodensee usually hands off the content development directly to diliton. For Fabian, this is the most efficient solution:

“That’s the easiest way. Otherwise, we’d have to ask every time which format or file is needed. This way, the process is streamlined – diliton deals directly with the customer – and it works great for everyone involved.”

The results speak for themselves: Customers who are using these interactive products more frequently are extremely enthusiastic about the content, and there has never been any negative feedback.

Interactive Technology as a Key to Success and a Future Trend

From Fabian’s perspective, the trend toward digital interaction at trade show booths is clearly evident, as exhibitors are increasingly looking for new ways to stand out:

“If you want to keep up with the times these days, you really have to offer something special to stand out from the crowd. Your interactive table, in particular – where you can place a customer’s product and a video demonstrating its use plays – is a cool idea.”

According to Fabian, this interactive technology offers two key advantages for exhibitors:

  1. Trade show visitors receive a wealth of information in a fun, fast, and highly condensed way.
  2. At the same time, the exhibitor saves on the cost of trained on-site staff, since the technology can convey the information on its own.

Beyond that, he also sees significant developments at trade shows. LED technology is booming in all its forms—from LED circles and cubes on hall ceilings to fully backlit walls or platforms with LED strips. In addition, he observes a trend in booth design away from purely angular shapes toward softer, more rounded designs.

Conclusion: Three words that sum it up

If Fabian had to sum up his collaboration with diliton in three words, they would be: “Reliable. Fast. Flexible.” For us, that’s great feedback—and exactly the standard we set for every project.

Fabian perfectly sums up why he would recommend us anytime in his closing sentence:

“Because you actually have a great point of contact right by your side from start to finish—someone who’s always there to help or answer questions, who offers a fair price, who’s reliable, and with whom you can talk about anything. So, basically, we work hand in hand.”
